DISC

The Personal Profile System Test said that I was a C high D. The means that my management style is mostly conscientious, concentrating on key details, weighing pros and cons, being diplomatic and accurate, as well as using systematic approach to situations. However, there is a little bit of dominance in my management style as well. The dominance side "emphasis is on shaping the environment by overcoming opposition to accomplish results" by causing action, making quick decisions, solving problems, and taking authority.
I believe this test was pretty accurate. Generally, I am conscientious, always concentrating on details and weighing both the pros and cons to every situation. However, when something needs to get done in a short amount of time, or in a situation of high pressure, I become very diplomatic, taking authority, solving problems, and finding a way to get everything done.
I do not think that people can become a new type. I think if you are something like a C high D, in certain situations you can become more D than C or more C than D, but I don't think you could change to an I or S. I believe that you cannot change because these are characteristics of your personality, not something that you learn.
Although this test could be useful to better understand where someone is coming from, in a business situation or in a situation where something has to get done under pressure I don't think your management style matters.
If the "Stranded!" activity in class were to become reality I would want somebody with a D high I management style to be with me. I think this would be a good combination of management styles because the dominance part would hopefully come through and help the group survive, while the influence part would be optimistic that help would find us and generating enthusiasm throughout the stranded group, and keep us motivated.

Vision

I have a number of goals and visions for my future some of which may be easier to accomplish than others, but never the less they are still my vision. One of my visions for my future is to graduate Baruch and go for my Masters in Education. Lately, I have been thinking about what I plan on doing after Baruch and teaching in an elementary school was always something that was in the back of my mind despite me being a marketing major, so becoming a teacher is my second vision. I would like to become a teacher because I have never liked school and if there was any way I could make school better and easier for even just one student it would be worth it for me. I plan on accomplishing this vision by doing the very best I can here at Baruch and after I graduate go for my masters. My real goal in becoming a teacher is to make an impact on these young kid's lives. Although this will be a difficult task I am willing to do as much as possible, such as working weekends, and summers, and go to conferences and seminars to find better ways to teach the material, to make my vision a reality. In addition to teaching, my other main vision for the future is to own my own house. This vision will hopefully become a reality through hard work and dedication as a teacher. I am a believer that the more work you put into something the more you get out of it. Therefore, I believe that if I work hard and put a lot of effort into my job, my reward will be not only making an impact on lives, but being able to own my own home as well. Another one of my goals, a stretch goal to put it mildly, is to own a Mercedes. Although this may seem a bit much, from the time that I was little this was always one of my goals in life. For me, driving a Mercedes would be the sign that I am successful and have accomplished something. At the moment, I'm not really sure how I am going to make this vision, if not a dream, a reality but hopefully one day it will be my reality.
